There are a number of physical, philosophical, environmental and logistical reasons why it is better to hop on a bicycle than to ride a car. Gas prices are rising. The earth is on fire. And yet, somehow, it’s easy to ignore all this when you’re late for work and have yet to wrestle your pants on your screaming toddler.
If you’re trying to reconcile your carefree cycling days with your current life as a family driver, I highly recommend getting an electric cargo bike. Mine has transformed my life, turning my boring, daily errands into a multitasking combination of joyride and workout. We’ve been reviewing e-bikes here at WIRED for a few years. I regularly carry kids, groceries, and who knows what bags around town on some of the best (and worst) electric cargo bikes out there. These are our favourites.
